Researchers: School finance is confusing even for those who are regularly immersed in studying the economics, policy issues and performance trends of public schools. The California School Finance Center provides researchers with accurate, detailed data on the revenue school districts receive and the efficiency with which they use that money to raise student academic achievement. They can find timely data on any public school district's finances and make comparisons with demographically comparable districts across the state. This information will inform current research studies on the adequacy and efficiency of California public school funding and spur further research on how our public education system can improve how it uses current resources and where best practices exist that can be studied and replicated broadly across the state.
